    Two days of presentations and discussions on the design of computer systems for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).

  • 4th International VLBI Technology Workshop 2015
    23 – 26 November
    The 4th International VLBI Technology Workshop will focus on major VLBI topics, including mm-VLBI and space VLBI.

    Two days of presentations and discussions on the design of computer systems for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).

  • New Zealand and the Beginnings of Radio Astronomy - A Process of Discovery
    30 January – 1 February 2013
    Three days of activities.  A two day conference to mark the significant developments in radio astronomy that have taken place in New Zealand from the pioneering work in the 1940s.  The third day will be a field trip which will include a visit to Leigh and the unveiling of a plaque to mark the discoveries of 1948.

    There will be important events before and after the Conference.

    Tuesday 29 January, 6.00 pm (1800) at AUT's North Shore (Akoranga) – A public lecture by Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell (Oxford) on “We are Made of Star Stuff”.

    Saturday 2 February – a coach trip to Piha to visit the remains of the RNZAF radar.

  • SKANZ 2012
    14 - 16 February
    A 3-day conference building on the success of the 2010 conference, focusing on fostering interaction and collaboration between Australian and New Zealand scientists and engineers.

  • SKANZ 2010
    15 - 19 February
    A week of events and activities relating to sciences associated with the SKA

Joint IPENZ + AUT Lecture 2015 on the Square Kilometre Array (SKA)
The SKA Project continues to fascinate and challenge scientists, industry and astronomers.

Radio Astronomy, Space Science and SKA

We are the only research institution in New Zealand with this research profile and were largely responsible for providing the basis for New Zealand to join the multi-billion dollar SKA project.
